I hope that I will be able to get justice regarding my grandfather’s apartment buildings in Liepaja, Latvia. The buildings were confiscated to become the ghetto in Liepaja. I know that in February 2022, the Latvian Parliament adopted a historic law on religious and communal property restitution which resulted in the Latvian government appropriating part of the $46 million in funding to preserve the Latvian Jewish community. Perhaps this family owned real estate can qualify for these preservation funds.

I have enclosed photos regarding my grandfather Abraham Ludsin’s apartment buildings and the survivors who made it to America. My father and I were issued ownership in June 1993 when we visited Liepaja. My father passed away on May 26, 1997. It is my understanding that the PoA (Power of Attorney) loses validity with the death of the person who granted said power. It seems the subsequent sales were illegal. I understand there could be a statute of limitations but I did not discover the fraud until June 2019. I would like to know who was paid for the sale of the properties and the amounts paid. I believe the sale was void ab initio, having no legal effect from inception.

I served on the President’s Commission on the Holocaust and the first U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council which created the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. I was the only child of a survivor on both original presidential panels.
